Music & Memory Initiative

The Wisconsin Music & Memory Initiative is a Department of Health Services (DHS) program that supports nursing homes to bring enjoyment to residents with Alzheimer’s and related dementias, and find renewed meaning and connection in their lives through the gift of personalized music.

Music & Memory at Pioneer Health & Rehab

Pioneer Health & Rehab was previously selected as 1 of only 100 nursing homes in the state to participate in the Wisconsin Music & Memory Initiative. Staff attended three (3) 90-minute training sessions provided by Dan Cohen, founder of Music & Memory, to explain how the program works and how families and staff can create personalized playlists for their residents. Through the hard work of our team, Pioneer Health & Rehab is proud to call itself a Music & Memory Certified Facility!
